Leadership Development: 5 Key Concerns Leaders have about AI (According to ChatGPT)

As a leadership development guru, and a futurist, I often talk with leaders about the promises and perils of AI. In addition, I brainstorm with ChatGPT. I asked it what it thought were the 5 key concerns leaders had about AI, as they navigate not just economic shifts, but cultural transformation. What do you think of these 5 five key concerns? On target? Off target? I look forward to hearing from you – eMail me at Danita@DanitaBye.com.

  1. Workforce Readiness and Leadership Gaps

Leaders are deeply concerned about whether the next generation is truly prepared, not just in skills, but in character and resilience. There’s a widening gap between technical ability and emotional maturity. Traits like entitlement, short-term thinking, and lack of grit are often cited, making it harder to build trustworthy, long-term teams.

  1. Trust and Institutional Breakdown

In an age of misinformation, political polarization, and ethical scandals, trust is eroding in institutions, leadership, and even peer relationships. Business leaders worry about maintaining integrity and transparency in a culture where cynicism often replaces faith in values-driven leadership.

  1. AI and Tech Disruption

Rapid advances in AI and automation are reshaping industries, but many leaders fear the human side is being lost. How do you lead in a way that’s technologically savvy while still being deeply human? There’s concern about losing empathy, ethics, and relational leadership in a data-driven world.

  1. Economic Volatility and Uncertainty

Inflation, rising interest rates, global supply chain disruptions, and geopolitical tensions all create a sense of fragility. Leaders are being asked to make bold decisions in foggy conditions, often with incomplete data and pressure to perform. Resilience and adaptability are top of mind.

  1. Cultural Fragmentation and Value Clashes

With generational divides, social movements, and shifts in cultural norms, workplaces are more diverse in thought and experience than ever. While diversity is a strength, it also means leaders face value clashes and must navigate how to lead with moral clarity in a pluralistic world.

Again, what are you seeing? What do you think? Are these 5 five key concerns on target? Off target? What missing? What other perils do you see?
