Shared Stewardship Responsibility

Shared Stewardship Responsibility

In the spirit of Christmas I thought I’d write a ‘different’ kind of blog. Yet, it spotlights the importance we as leaders have – our shared stewardship responsibility to our families, friends, colleagues, employees, vendors, suppliers…to all those whom God graciously brings into our lives. And, especially those young leaders entrusted to our care.

At the North Dakota Petroleum Council’s Annual Meeting, Lt. Governor Wrigley was asked to say a prayer before our evening meal.  It was encouraging to see a state leader willing to humbly and graciously lead us in prayer.

It was a true demonstration of the Impact Mindset which I often write about.

So I asked him if he would be OK if I published it on my blog and he agreed. This is the copy of the prayer.Preamble
Friends, competitors, co-workers…we have Important work to do!  There is, in this room a shared stewardship responsibility.  The Governor, a variety of executives, geologists, land men/women, HR professionals…you name it!  A shared set of responsibilities, for our environment and for our economy.

The Prayer
Heavenly Father, we gather in thanks.  We are blessed by the bounty of your land, your waters, the treasures beneath the soil, and the rhythm of the season and your systems.

We gather in thanks for opportunity and liberty, thankful to live in a land where the human capacity that you gave us can be applied to the world you lay out before us.

Please remind us to lend our endeavors to YOUR glory.  Remind us.

We are grateful for the blessings of work and creativity, the opportunities to make progress for your people.  We know you made every one of us in your very image.  Every single one…and you call us by name.

Only through you are we whole in our lives, our loves, our achievements, the lessons of our challenges and failures.  We give thanks for the communion of this night and the work to come.

Whatever the tasks ahead each morning, remind us to encounter it with you command: “This is the day the Lord has made, rejoice and be glad in it!”

With humility and thanks, we are yours; and we ask that you bless this meal to our bodies, and these times to our hearts.

We pray this in your heavenly name.

Amen
