29 Gratitude Quotes to Reflect on When Reviewing Your 2024 Leadership Strategy Plan

I often kick off the New Year with Anyway and The Paradoxical Commandments. This poem is a valuable reminder for us as leadership development influencers.

We are called to deal with a lot as we mentor the next generation of leaders and move our teams forward.

So here it is again. And to kick off my new Gratitude Series there are also some great Gratitude quotes for you to ponder on.

What would you add to the list?

The Paradoxical Commandments
by Dr. Kent M. Keith

People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered.
Love them anyway.

If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.
Do good anyway.

If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway.

The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway.

Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway.

The biggest men and women with the biggest ideas can be shot down

by the smallest men and women with the smallest minds.
Think big anyway.

People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs.
Fight for a few underdogs anyway.

What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway.

People really need help but may attack you if you do help them.
Help people anyway.

Give the world the best you have and you’ll get kicked in the teeth.
Give the world the best you have anyway.

Anyway, and The Paradoxical Commandments, also remind me of the Grit required of us as we invest our time, talent, and treasure in those we care about, from the dining room to the board room.  I often use this “mantra” to encourage myself on the leadership journey.

“That which was meant to break you, will build you.

That which was meant to destroy you, will deliver you.

That which was meant to wound you, will heal you.”

~ Anonymous

It sounds negative, talking about things that will break, destroy, and wound me. And, my goal is to stay focused on the HOPE of build, deliver, and heal.

That’s why Gratitude is so important. Gratitude encourages and empowers us on that journey. It’s a leadership trait I want to mentor and model for my grandchildren and others I meet along life’s leadership path.

If there s one thing that helps me re-focus when it seems like there’s lots if “anyway stuff” happening, it’s seeing my grandchildren.  And when they’re all under one roof simultaneously, it doesn’t get much better than that!  After spending precious family time over the last couple of weeks, and making tons of new memories, I’m inspired to help create a world where my grandchildren can thrive.

I trust you find a few nuggets to kick off your New Year!

Gratefully,

Danita
