Growing Millennial Leadership – TEDx Talk Shows You How to Make a Major Difference With Micro Moves
It’s anniversary time and I’m celebrating! August 16th 2018 was an eventful day. I had the honor to share a stage with eight thought leaders at the TEDx Bismarck event. All the hours of rehearsing my first ever TEDx talk – and the sleepless nights, worrying that I might accidentally step off the red circle, or go over my time allotment by 7 seconds – was worth it. Why was it so important to me?
“Millennial Leaders: Stop Complaining, Start Coaching”, received great feedback. This was encouraging. Why? Because I am passionate about equipping and energizing experienced leaders to use their wisdom and insights to develop the next-gen leaders in their life. I believe that they can become the greatest generation ever – with our help.
Did you know that 79 percent of Millennials want a coach or a mentor – not a boss?
They want you to come alongside them and help them grow in their leadership capacity and influence. But you don’t have to spend lots of time and money to do this. You can do small things to create a big impact.

Who’s the young leader in your life, who needs your light to be able to shine? It’s a 5 mm micro-move, micro-moment that can have a huge impact on the trajectory of someone’s life.
In my TEDx Talk, I share a story about a conversation I had with my son. During the course of our heart-to-heart chat, he said, “Mom, we can access a plethora of brilliant talking heads 24/7. But that’s not what we need. We need wise leaders who know us, and who care about us. We need coaches and mentors to walk alongside us and show us what to do and how to do it.”
When I heard these words, I realized that I had to slow down and start looking around me to see the next-gen leader who might need my help.
